The document library

Files that belong to the company rather than to one part.

Some documents don't belong to a single part — a quality manual, a supplier agreement, a test standard, a process specification. Those live in the document library under the Vault group.

Controlled documents

Library documents can be revision-controlled and routed for approval like parts, which is what an ISO 9001 auditor means by document control. They can carry an effective date and a review date, so a procedure due for review surfaces before it expires rather than after.

Linking

A library document can be linked to parts, categories or projects. A finishing specification linked to a category appears on every part in it, without being copied.

Still stuck?

Email [email protected] and a person will pick it up. Include the part number and what you were doing — it saves a round trip.
