Raising a change request

Writing an ECR that gets acted on.

An ECR records a problem or an opportunity. You do not need to know the solution to raise one.

Raising it

  1. Go to ECRs and choose New ECR.
  2. Give it a title someone can scan in a list.
  3. Describe the problem — what's happening, where, how often, what it costs.
  4. Link the parts involved. Use Where Used to catch assemblies you'd otherwise miss.
  5. Set urgency honestly. If everything is urgent, nothing is.
  6. Attach evidence: photos, measurements, failure reports, supplier correspondence.
  7. Submit.

What makes one actionable

After submitting

It goes to whoever reviews changes in your company. You're notified of the decision. Approved requests become an ECO; rejected ones keep their reason on the record, which matters when the same issue resurfaces later.

Still stuck?

Email [email protected] and a person will pick it up. Include the part number and what you were doing — it saves a round trip.
