Searching the vault
How search works, what it covers, and how to narrow results.
The search box at the top of every screen covers parts, files and documents together. Start typing and results appear grouped by type.
What works well
- Part numbers — full or partial. Pasting
BLD1002015jumps straight to it. - Descriptions — words from a part name, like
transom mount. - File names — including drawing PDFs and neutral files.
- Document titles from the document library.
Narrowing down
From the full Search page you can filter by category, project, lifecycle state and compliance flags. That's the fastest way to answer questions like "which released parts in this project have no supplier price".
Search only returns what you're permitted to see. If a colleague finds a part and you can't, your access is probably scoped to different programmes or projects rather than the part being missing.
If something new isn't appearing
Newly created parts and freshly uploaded files are normally searchable within a few moments. If something still isn't found after a few minutes, an administrator can rebuild the search index from Administration → Maintenance. If that doesn't resolve it, email [email protected] with the part number.
Email [email protected] and a person will pick it up. Include the part number and what you were doing — it saves a round trip.
